Level one - Livello Elementare - А1

Italian language knowledge which students acquire after the completion of Level 1 emphasizes on the speaking – the perfection of common phrases used in greetings, presenting oneself, describing daily activities, meeting new people, asking and giving information, as well as in describing people and places, offering help, accepting and refusing it, laying down personal opinion on specific topics, expressions of gratitude, abilities to tell what has happened, ordering in restaurants, telling what you intend to do, trying to guess what might happen in the future. The main focus of Level 1 is not only on the most commonly used words and expressions but also on gathering linguistic expertise in such areas as : describing the human body, using expressions of time, family relations, food products, the characteristics of Italian cuisine, meteorology, travelling, etc.
The texts for reading and comprehending are structured around the question “ Why am I studying Italian? “ and try to support the answer with information on Italian regions and cities, the details on Italian transport, phones and post offices as means of communication, places to eat, the coffee and its place in Italian daily life, contemporary and traditional festivities.
Level two - Livello pre-Intermedio - A2.
The knowledge gathered by students in Level 2 of Progetto Italiano allows having a conversation family and relatives, it enriches the vocabulary used in restaurants, it gives an opportunity for a more detailed expression of needs and desires. Students can now construct themselves their own stories and descriptions of activities that have been happening, they can express agreement or disagreement, joy and frustration, offering refusing and accepting help. In Level 2 students are now able to lead longer conversations on different topics : shopping, fashion, TV shows, they can give directions, advice, assessment.
Level three - Livello Intermedio - B1
Level 3 builds on and upgrades knowledge acquired in the course of the previous two levels. The focus here is on the specifically prepared ready-to-use models of giving and receiving apology, expressing surprise or doubt, asking for explanation and the ability to answer such a request. The students gather expertise which helps them to look up or request information from different areas, as well as phrases for giving permission, expressing tolerance, giving directions in a city and the ability to follow instructions. Level 3 contains vocabulary from different professions, economic and banking terms which are necessary for the full experience of a stay in Italy, vocabulary that would be needed for writing formal or informal letters, popular proverbs, sport and historical terminology, basic musical and art terms. The texts have their focus on the peculiarities and problems of the contemporary Italian society – the education, economics, job market, sightseeing in Italian cities and regions, a brief history of the country and its participation in international events, Italian traditions in world sport – popular names and symbols, the opera and accomplishments in the field of classical music.
Level four - Livello Intermedio - B2
For upgrading the so-far-acquired skills different models are developed in regards to new phrases and expressions used when giving and receiving apologies, expressing disbelief and doubts, asking for explanation and giving a full account of what has happened, expressing tolerance, giving directions, developing specific linguistic structures for asking and giving information. .
