“Nuevo VEN 1” swiftly proved to be one of the best courses for learning Spanish as a foreign language. It was developed in accordance with the curriculum of the Cervantes Institute and it follows the criteria of the Common European Framework of Reference which allows students to focus simultaneously on learning the language and on getting to know the societies, customs and cultures of the different Spanish-speaking countries. The structure of the First Level consists of 15 lessons, each subdivided into different units based upon grammar exercises. Every lesson begins with several short conversations on a specific topic, which introduce the main theme of the unit in question and helps practice listening comprehension and pronunciation. The next parts of the lesson are oriented towards strengthening the vocabulary skills and the practice of grammar rules which build up together the ability to express oneself with ease.
The Workbook consists of specifically developed extra material on exercises for each lesson. A multimedia course helps turn the process of studying into an even more pleasant experience.
The sound files guide the process of proper pronunciation education and form the basis of the listening comprehension exercises. The video files presented for viewing are adapted in accordance with the level of fluency of the students and offer a modern approach to exercising what has been learned.
After completion of Level One of the “Nuevo VEN 1” course a student is able to comprehend and express in oral as well as in written form basic ideas, which pertain to his daily routine. The level of fluency reached corresponds to Level A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference.

The first two units are based on dialogues which help revise what has been learned thus far and introduce the topic of the lesson. Unit “Grammar contents” has the task of strengthening grammar knowledge acquired up to this point while unit “Language in action” eases vocabulary revision through practice in listening, reading, writing and speaking. Finally in unit “Atelier” the emphasis is on listening comprehension and the written expression through texts which focus on different cultural topics from the life of Spain and Latin America.
The Workbook consists of extra exercises for each lesson adapted to revise what was learned so far.
The sound files contain each one of the dialogues and play a crucial role in the listening comprehension exercises. Thanks to them Level 2 students can now point out the difference between Spanish spoken in Spain and in Spanish spoken in Latin America.
The video files for Level 2 are oriented towards the level of fluency of the students, just as in Level 1, but now it begins more and more to resemble an actual TV series. The subtitles help the better understanding and the exercises strengthen the so-far-learned.
After completing Level 2 of “Nuevo VEN 2” a student can comprehend and express more complex ideas and cope in almost all possible daily life situations. The knowledge gathered corresponds to Level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference
The third part of the “Nuevo VEN” course contains generally more difficult but nevertheless quite often used grammar and lexical structures. Apprehending them, a student enriches his vocabulary with many new words and expressions which help him to successfully present his language abilities in different areas. The material is easy to grasp and enhanced with many real life examples of communication techniques.
The School book consists of 12 lessons subdivided into units. In the beginning of a lesson you can see the subdivisions “Reading Comprehension”, “Listening Comprehension” where authentic texts are been presented ( newspaper and magazine articles, fiction writings, internet stories, etc.) along with dialogues which enrich the communication abilities and expand the student`s vocabulary. In the next unit – “Language”, grammar structures are revised and practiced. The exercises in these sections are specifically developed to strengthen one`s confidence during communication on a higher level and also aim to overcome the psychological barrier which sometimes hinders students from expressing themselves freely.
Different opportunities for creative thinking are given in the “ Writing School” units where essays are contrived in accordance with the main topic of the specific lesson while using the proposed models of writing structures. A “ Squawk Box” is also available where these topics are presented and debated.
Some of the lessons finish with a “Live from Spain” section which has the task of presenting cultural and social themes which help the student feel in touch with the history, the customs and the present-day actualities of Spain and Latin America.

The sound files for Level 3 are not adapted but instead – presented in as far as possible genuine appearance in order to fully immerse students into real-life actual situations.
The Video Series come as closely as they can to the idea of a classic Latino sitcom. The subtitles add to the better understanding and exercises revise the learned material.
After completing Level 3 of the “NUEVO VEN” system a student is able to comprehend and express ideas with a high level of sophistication as well cope without much effort with different daily life situations. The level of fluency corresponds to Level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference.
