For children in the early stage of learning at Intellect we use the Bright Ideas 1 course. It offers a flexible package of learning resources, projects, videos, animated stories and online practice that guarantee both academic achievement and 21st century skills through creative games and activities. Using the "Big Questions" at the beginning of each unit inspires pupils to share ideas and personal opinions, and develop critical thinking through communication and collaboration. The course connects the classroom with the real world and encourages children's natural curiosity about the world with the help of songs, games, creative tasks and a variety of activities.
To identify and name objects and concepts of the following categories: numbers (1-20), colours, days of the week, classroom objects, family, toys, body parts, rooms, clothes, animals, food, holidays; to understand words and sentences when hearing them and name them; to follow and read texts supported by illustrations; to match concepts with images; to retell short stories and situations with simple sentences; to use vocabulary related to festivals, Christmas and the International Friendship Day; to sing songs including words from the above-mentioned topics; to respond to classroom routine commands; to think about age-appropriate issues; to form different types of sentences in the Present Simple and the Present Continuous Tense; to use grammar constructions such as There is/are; I have got / have not got, I can / can’t, as well as various prepositions; to create a picture dictionary; to make short oral descriptions of their family, friends, home, etc.
