Who is it suitable for?
The Bulgarian for Foreigners Level B1 course offers a deeper exploration of the language, encouraging learners to develop their ability to communicate more complexly and independently in a variety of socio-cultural situations. Learners will be introduced to the richness of Bulgarian vocabulary and phraseology, gaining confidence in the use of different grammatical structures and tenses.Central to the course is the refinement of skills in reading and analysing complex texts, as well as improving oral and written communication skills through active participation in discussions and the production of written projects.In addition, the course includes an examination of aspects of Bulgarian culture and history, which enriches cultural dialogue and facilitates the integration of students into Bulgarian society.
- At B1 level, learners develop the following skills in learning the Bulgarian language:
- Comprehension of speech: they can understand the main idea of a "standard" oral or written text on topics that are familiar to them or related to their interests.
- Reading: They are able to read different types of texts, such as articles, essays and literary works, and analyse their main ideas and arguments.
- Oral Communication: They can participate in conversations on a variety of topics, expressing opinions, providing information, and asking questions with sufficient fluency and accuracy.
- Written communication: They are able to produce a variety of texts, including letters, essays and reports, using appropriate style and grammar.
- Grammar: Have a wider knowledge of grammar, including the use of different tenses, modi and complex sentence structures.
- Vocabulary: They have a richer vocabulary, which allows them to express themselves more accurately and in more detail.
- Cultural competence: They have a good understanding of Bulgarian culture, history and social norms, which facilitates their communication and integration into society.
- Self-learning strategies: They develop self-learning strategies that help them to continue to improve in the language even after the end of the course.
- Upon completion of B1, learners should be able to communicate fluently in most everyday and work situations, as well as read and write with an increased level of sophistication and accuracy.

What is the duration of the courses?
Courses at Intellect usually last between 2 and 3 months, during which time one language level is covered. These hours include live classes as well as work on our intelligent Intellect Modus platform.
How many hours a week are the classes?
Classes are usually held twice a week for 3 astronomical hours. It is possible that the course may be of a different intensity if this is necessary for you to get into the material more quickly.

What is the structure of the lessons?
Each lesson includes grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking and writing so that you can adequately develop all your senses. The programme is well balanced and gradually guides you through the language.
Are there additional materials or textbooks I need to buy?
All teaching materials are purchased additionally. Intellect can provide you with materials, and you have the option to provide your own materials in case you already have the textbook or wish to obtain it yourself.
Is there a test to determine my starting level?
Yes, we offer a free entry test that accurately determines your language level. In most cases, we will ask you to complete this test to make sure this is truly your level and the group you are placed in is right for you.
