Who is it suitable for?
The Bulgarian for Foreigners A2 course aims to prepare students to communicate effectively in everyday situations. Covering a wide range of topics such as family, work and leisure, the course supports the development of basic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, with an emphasis on the use of basic grammar and vocabulary in real communicative contexts. At the same time, the course offers an introduction to Bulgarian culture and traditions, thus enriching the learning process with cultural nuances and helping to better understand and master the language. It is designed for people who already have a basic knowledge of the Bulgarian language and want to expand and strengthen it.
- Level A2, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), is the next step after the initial level A1. It is also known as the "basic user level". Here are the skills you usually acquire when you complete Level A2 in Bulgarian:
- Speech Comprehension: Can understand sentences and commonly used expressions related to areas of immediate interest (e.g. basic information about personal and family life, shopping, work, immediate environment).
- Reading: Can read short, simple texts and find specific information in everyday materials such as advertisements, brochures, menus or timetables.
- Oral communication: Can communicate in routine situations that require simple and direct exchange of information about familiar and routine matters. May also describe in rough terms his/her background, education and present environment.
- Written communication: Can write short notes and messages that relate to his/her immediate needs, and describe in simple terms his/her environment and those around him/her.
- Grammar: Understands and can use basic grammatical structures and tenses, including the past tense of some basic verbs.
- Vocabulary: Expands his vocabulary, allowing him to communicate on a wide range of topics, although he may need repetition or correction.
- Cultural: Has a better understanding of the cultural characteristics and social norms of speakers of English.
- After completing level A2, learners should feel more confident in their ability to communicate in Bulgarian in simple, everyday situations. However, to achieve a greater degree of proficiency, they would need to progress to the next levels (B1 and B2).

What is the duration of the courses?
Courses at Intellect usually last between 2 and 3 months, during which time one language level is covered. These hours include live classes as well as work on our intelligent Intellect Modus platform.
How many hours a week are the classes?
Classes are usually held twice a week for 3 astronomical hours. It is possible that the course may be of a different intensity if this is necessary for you to get into the material more quickly.

What is the structure of the lessons?
Each lesson includes grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking and writing so that you can adequately develop all your senses. The programme is well balanced and gradually guides you through the language.
Are there additional materials or textbooks I need to buy?
All teaching materials are purchased additionally. Intellect can provide you with materials, and you have the option to provide your own materials in case you already have the textbook or wish to obtain it yourself.
Is there a test to determine my starting level?
Yes, we offer a free entry test that accurately determines your language level. In most cases, we will ask you to complete this test to make sure this is truly your level and the group you are placed in is right for you.
